The information spread on social networks that the external plastic elements on the Changan car in Krasnodar have melted due to the heat is not true. This is stated in a statement by Chang'an Motors Rus, which was received by Izvestia on July 31.

The company said that the damaged car was located in the immediate vicinity of an open fire — the ignition of a nearby parked car. This was confirmed by the car owner himself, adding that the car is currently awaiting repair under a hard hat policy.

"Additional video footage posted later clearly shows that the car's body is covered with traces of soot and ash, characteristic of external thermal effects, and not overheating from solar activity," the statement said.

Changan representatives indicated that all brand models undergo comprehensive climatic and thermal tests, including checks for resistance to high temperatures. The exterior elements, including plastic parts, comply with international quality standards and are designed for operation at temperatures up to +85 °C. The materials used retain their shape, color and physical properties in hot climates, including in southern Russia, they stressed.

Earlier, on January 27, Changan's headquarters, in response to various publications in the Russian media about the quality of the CS55 Plus and UNI-S crossover front seats, announced that it had retested the seats for durability and made sure they were safe.
