AvtoVAZ explained the lack of air conditioning in the cheapest Lada Iskra

The new Lada Iskra model does not include air conditioning in the basic Comfort package, as many Russian drivers do not use it. Vitaly Loginov, the chief engineer of the project, told about this in an interview with the Lada Iskra community on the VK social network.

"We analyzed the market and saw that not all consumers use air conditioning in one way or another. That is, there are regions, for example, with a cold climate, where air conditioning is not needed. But options such as a rain sensor and a light sensor, which consumers use in any region, are in demand, so we have set them to automatic mode here," Loginov said.

The AvtoVAZ representative also mentioned that the company is currently developing a climate control system, and if market requests are confirmed, a new climate control system may appear on Lada Iskra.

After the publication of the interview, statements that many Russian drivers do not need air conditioning were received ambiguously online. The press service of AVTOVAZ was surprised by this reaction and stated that cars in the basic configuration and without air conditioners are really very popular.

"It's amazing that society doesn't accept people who really don't need additional options, and laughs at the fact that someone just needs a car with four wheels. It is the same Granta that we produce, and it costs 750 thousand rubles in the initial configuration without air conditioning. This car is in terrible short supply. Someone needs a car without air conditioning," the company's press service quoted the publication as saying.

All other Lada Iskra trim levels, except the starting one for 1.25 million rubles, are equipped with air conditioning. The share of production of basic models is a very low percentage, and such cars are bought by those who value low cost rather than air conditioning, the company added.

The day before, it was reported that AvtoVAZ will start producing Lada Iskra cars in the most affordable version at a price of 1.25 million rubles in August, when employees will come out of a single corporate vacation. Sales of Lada Iskra started on July 20 in Tolyatti, Moscow and St. Petersburg.
