A Japanese woman died during evacuation during a tsunami threat
In Japan, a woman died during a self-evacuation announced amid the threat of a tsunami due to the earthquake in Kamchatka. This was reported on July 30 by TV Asahi TV channel with reference to the police.
"A car that was trying to evacuate after a tsunami warning appeared fell off the side of the road. <...> A 58-year-old woman was driving," the publication says.
It is noted that the victim, who hit her head as a result of the accident, was taken to a medical facility, where she died.
According to media reports, the police are currently trying to determine the cause of the accident.
The Reuters news agency reported a day earlier, on July 30, that over 2 million residents of the Pacific coast of Japan had received evacuation warnings due to the threat of a tsunami. It was noted that the relevant information appeared on city billboards and TV screens.
