Warnings of a possible tsunami, previously introduced after the earthquake off the coast of Kamchatka, have been lifted for coastal areas of the US states of Washington, Oregon and most of California. This was reported on July 30 by CNN with reference to the US National Weather Service.

According to the department, only two sections of the California coast remain under the warnings — one in the north of the state, the other in the south-central part. In addition, warnings remain in effect for the Hawaiian Islands and the Aleutian Ridge in Alaska.

Experts noted that despite the lifting of restrictions in most regions, the coastal zone remains potentially dangerous. The service stressed that the ocean "will continue to fluctuate over the next few days, with strong currents possible."

Waves caused by an earthquake off the coast of Kamchatka reached the coast of the U.S. state of Washington on July 30. According to the US National Weather Service, the first waves were recorded in the settlements of La Push and Westport. The authorities urged residents not to approach the water until they received official permission.

The earthquake in Kamchatka occurred on July 30. A tsunami threat has been declared on the coast of the Avacha Bay. An emergency situation regime is in effect in the North Kuril region of the Sakhalin Region and in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
