Emergency mode introduced in Karelian forests due to wildfires
A regional emergency regime has been introduced in the Republic of Karelia due to forest fires. This was announced on July 30 by the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in the region.
"The head of Karelia [Artur Parfenchikov] signed a decree on the introduction of a regional emergency regime in forests from July 30, which arose as a result of forest fires," reads a message posted on the Telegram channel of the republican ministry.
According to the ministry, the most difficult situation related to fires is observed in the Muezersky and Loukhsky districts. There is a ban on visiting forests and entering them.
It is specified that, on behalf of Parfenchikov, additional forces and means of the territorial unit of the unified state emergency response and response system were involved in extinguishing fires.
The republican ministry added that the continuing hot, dry weather and thunderstorms are exacerbating the restoration of forests after fires.
The day before, the Governor of the Republic of Tyva, Vladislav Khovalyg, announced that an emergency regime had been introduced throughout the region due to large-scale wildfires in forests. He noted that the fire in the region covered 870 hectares of taiga. The fires were caused by dry thunderstorms.
