Brazil will find new partners if the United States imposes trade duties on Brazilian goods. This was announced on July 30 by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in an interview with the New York Times.

"If the United States doesn't want to buy anything from us, we (Brazil. — Ed.) we will look for someone who will do it. We have an exceptional trade relationship with China," he said.

The Brazilian leader added that Americans, who will face higher prices for coffee, beef, orange juice and other products, much of which are imported from Brazil, will have to pay for the introduction of trade duties by US President Donald Trump. Lula da Silva noted that none of the nations deserves this.

"We (Brazil and the USA. We are moving from mutually beneficial diplomatic relations that lasted 201 years to political relations in which both sides are losing," he concluded.

On July 9, Trump imposed trade duties of 50% on goods from Brazil. The law will come into force on August 1. In turn, Lula da Silva announced on July 24 that he was ready for a dialogue with the United States on trade duties. At the same time, the Brazilian president noted that the American leader does not show any desire to start negotiations.

On July 26, Brazilian entrepreneurs asked the head of state not to introduce a mirror response to the import duties imposed by Trump.
