Seven people have died in a plane crash in the jungles of the Venezuelan state of Amazonas. This was announced on July 30 by the head of the country's Defense Ministry, Vladimir Padrino Lopez.
"After the crash of the Cessna Grand Caravan C-208B aircraft with registration number AMB-4292 of the ninth air transport group of the Bolivarian Military Aviation in Puerto Ayacucho, Amazonas, seven people were killed," Lopez said, his words are reported by the state television channel VTV.
According to the minister, the second pilot of the aircraft is among the dead. It is specified that the bodies of all the victims will be evacuated soon.
According to the Governor of Amazonas State, Miguel Rodriguez, there were at least 10 people on board, including representatives of the Yanomama indigenous people, medical staff and crew members. The plane was flying from the city of Puerto Ayacucho to the remote settlement of Parima B in the municipality of Alto Orinoco.
According to the TV channel, communication with the plane was lost almost immediately after takeoff. According to preliminary information, the cause of the disaster was a technical malfunction. The governor also added that the Yanomama representatives on board were returning to their community after undergoing a medical examination.
The Bild newspaper reported on July 29 that a military helicopter crashed in the federal state of Saxony in Germany. It was clarified that the aircraft crashed near the city of Grimma. According to eyewitnesses, the wreckage of the helicopter is located on the Mulda River.
