- The Russian Foreign Ministry expressed concern over the threats of new attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities.
Moscow is concerned about the regular threats to launch new attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities. This was announced on July 30 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
She noted that the Russian Foreign Ministry sees incessant attempts by "politically biased and destructively minded forces" to undermine the situation around the Iranian nuclear program. Using a far-fetched pretext, these forces want to convince the rest of the world that there are threats that this program does not actually pose.
"The regular threats against Iran to launch new missile and bomb attacks on its nuclear facilities cannot but cause serious concern. Such statements are added to the cynicism by the fact that they are made under the guise of ostensible concern for the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. I would like to note that we are talking about nuclear weapons," the diplomat said at a briefing.
Zakharova stressed that the risks of attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities cannot be ignored, and such actions should not become commonplace.
On July 28, US President Donald Trump said that Washington was ready to strike again at the facilities of the Iranian nuclear program. He added that the United States is receiving "very unpleasant signals" from Iran.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi announced on July 21 that the country was not ready for direct negotiations with the United States. At the same time, he stressed that if the American side is ready for a mutually beneficial solution, then Tehran is open to dialogue. Prior to that, on July 16, Trump expressed the opinion that Iran "desperately" wants to resume negotiations with the United States.
