Subarachnoid hemorrhage is a condition in which blood gets under the membranes of the brain, accompanied by severe headache, nausea, pain when moving the eyeballs, tension in the neck muscles and lethargy of consciousness, up to coma. On July 29, Galina Chudinskaya, a neurologist at Medicine JSC (Academician Roitberg Clinic), told Izvestia about this.

She named the main causes of such hemorrhage. Among them are hypertensive crisis with rupture of cerebral vessels, rupture of aneurysm, traumatic brain injury and inflammatory vascular diseases (vasculitis).

Ignoring a severe headache that has occurred for the first time is particularly dangerous. As the neurologist explained, this can be fatal due to brain edema. Possible complications include the development of chronic inflammation of the meninges (arachnoiditis), which is manifested by persistent headaches.

"The consequences also include focal neurological disorders: problems with memory and attention, speech disorders, weakness in the extremities, impaired coordination of movements and gait," the doctor added.

Chudinskaya stressed that when these symptoms appear, it is necessary to urgently seek medical help in order to avoid serious complications and maintain the quality of life.

On July 3, Rustem Gayfutdinov, a neurologist, said that the appearance of facial asymmetry, speech disorders, and limb paralysis may indicate the first signs of a stroke, but sometimes the disease can only be detected by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
