Degtyarev noted the achievements of the Rostov region in the field of sports
Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports and President of the Russian Olympic Committee, met with Acting Governor Yuri Slyusar on July 26 during a working trip to the Rostov region and discussed with him the implementation of federal programs in the field of physical culture and sports.
During the trip, the Minister visited sports infrastructure facilities. Thus, as part of the federal projects, an indoor football arena and a complex of specialized cycling trails were built in Rostov-on-Don, as well as the V.I. Alekseev weightlifting center in Shakhty.
"We have inspected several large facilities. Firstly, the handball palace, which is currently operated by the Olympic Reserve School. <...> In general, the school is a forge of personnel for the national teams of both the Rostov region and Russia in 17 sports. Today we have seen the final stage of the construction of the Rostov Sports Palace, everything has been done at the highest level," he said.
Degtyarev stressed that the region has achieved all the targets of the state program "Sport of Russia". By the end of 2024, the involvement of the population in sports exceeded 60%, the same indicator for the provision of sports facilities. There has also been an increase in the field of inclusive sports: about 42% of people with disabilities regularly engage in physical education, and more than 50% of sports facilities are adapted for this category of citizens.
Special attention was paid at the meeting to the development of school sports. There are sports clubs in all educational institutions of the region, in which about 120 thousand students are engaged. At the same time, the need to expand the list of sports organizations that give citizens the right to a tax deduction for sports and recreation services was discussed: currently, only about 5% of sports organizations in the region are included in the list.
During the trip, the minister also presented awards to athletes and coaches: 32 people received honorary badges and certificates of "Master of Sports of Russia", three received certificates of sports judges of the All—Russian category, 33 participants received gold TRP badges. 11 industry employees received commendations from the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation.
On July 17, Degtyarev said that Russia had made a huge contribution to the development of the global Olympic movement, and now the goal was to fully return to the Olympic family as a national team with a flag and anthem. According to the minister, for this it is necessary to defend the interests of Russian athletes on all fronts.
