- The Russian Embassy in Greece announced the absence of appeals from Russians due to forest fires.
Russian citizens did not contact the Russian Embassy in Greece amid forest fires in the region due to the extremely hot weather. This was reported to Izvestia on July 25 by the press service of the Russian Embassy.
"There have been no complaints from Russian citizens living in Greece, as well as compatriots in connection with the fire near the village of Feneos to the Russian Embassy. Information about the injured Russians has not been received," the statement said.
According to the Greek Fire Service, 38 new fires have appeared in the country over the past 24 hours. Thus, the fire near the village of Feneos in the Corinth region has been going on since July 22, while it has become one of the largest since the beginning of summer this year.
The press service clarified that currently more than 1.2 thousand hectares of forest have burned down, as well as damage to residential buildings near the settlement.
Earlier in the day, Phileleftheros newspaper reported that more than 110 houses in Cyprus were destroyed as a result of a forest fire in Limassol. The fires also damaged the municipal infrastructure.
