Alina Lysenko, the world and European junior champion in cycling, joined the Marathon Tula team on July 25. The girl will join the Russian team's sprint team.

The European Under-23 Cycling Championship was held in Portugal from July 15 to 20. Russian cyclist Lysenko won two gold medals — in the 1 km gita and the keirin. Last season, Lysenko won the UCI Champions League sprint classification and got into the top 10 of the Forbes "30 under 30" rating.

The Russian national team won nine gold medals at this tournament, losing second place in the medal standings to Italy, Sport-Express reports.

It is noted that Lysenko studied figure skating with Maria Butyrskaya until the age of 15, but switched to cycling and two years later won the first major international tournaments.

On July 16, Russian cyclist Valeria Valgonen also became the European junior champion. She won the elimination race. The athlete from Spain won the silver medal, and the Italian won the bronze.
