KAMAZ has announced the transition to a one-day work week starting on August 1. This step was forced by the lack of prospects for market growth and the pressure of importers' remaining equipment. The press service of the Naberezhnye Chelny auto giant announced this in its Telegram channel on July 25. The decision will affect those divisions that do not have a full workload.

"The company's management and sales services are currently negotiating with traditional and new corporate clients on the purchase of additional equipment to load production until the market situation recovers. Social guarantees to the workforce will be fully implemented in accordance with the collective agreement and Russian legislation," the company said.

KAMAZ said that the manufacturer managed to secure stable orders in the first half of the year, but there is a crisis in the truck market weighing over 14 tons in Russia: by the end of the half-year, the market decreased by almost 60%. At the same time, sales of KAMAZ decreased by less than 30%, and the company's share increased to 40%.

The company called the "short-sighted policy of importers of foreign equipment" one of the main reasons for the market decline, which, despite forecasts of a market decline, imported an excessive number of cars last year. Now there are over 30 thousand trucks in the warehouses of these companies, which cannot be sold even at dumping prices, which are actively used by dealers, KAMAZ said.

Another reason is the Central Bank's monetary policy. It has led "not only to the inability to purchase new equipment using financial instruments in the form of loans and leasing, but also forces transport and other companies to return equipment leased last year to the lessor." According to estimates of the Naberezhnye Chelny manufacturer, more than 10 thousand pieces of equipment have accumulated in the warehouses of leasing companies. It is sold significantly below the market value, while it is almost new, they noted.

On the eve of the transition to a four-day working week due to the decline in the commercial vehicle market, Gorky Automobile Plant announced.

On July 22, AvtoVAZ announced that in early autumn the company would consider changing the schedule of its production sites from September 29 and switching to a four-day working week.
