Xi Jinping expressed hope for Europe's rejection of trade restrictions
The Chinese authorities hope that the leadership of the European Union (EU) will abandon restrictions in trade and the economic sphere. This was announced on July 24 by Chinese President Xi Jinping at a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa.
"We hope that the EU will keep its trade and investment markets open and refrain from using restrictive economic and trade instruments," CCTV quoted the Chinese leader as saying.
According to Xi Jinping, China hopes that the EU will create a favorable business environment for Chinese companies willing to invest and start businesses in Europe.
He stressed that the development of relations between China and the EU will open up new opportunities for international cooperation and benefit both sides.
The President of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, Jens Eskelund, said on July 23 that economic relations between Beijing and Brussels had reached a turning point. According to him, the parties should discuss a model of cooperation and come to a more equitable trade relationship.
