Kursk athlete Evgeny Katunin died in a special operation zone

Kursk track and field athlete Evgeny Katunin, who specialized in hurdling, died in a special military operation in Donbass. This was announced on July 24 by the Ministry of Sports of the Kursk region.

"During a special military operation, Kursk athlete Yevgeny Katunin was killed," the department's Telegram channel said.

It is specified that the athlete decided to join the army a few months after the start of the special operation in 2022.

During his sporting career, Katunin won the Cup of Russia, as well as medals at the national championships and the Central Federal District. In addition, he holds the current record of the Kursk region in the 110 m hurdles. In 2021, the athlete was awarded the title of Master of Sports.
