Roskachestvo told about the non-obvious causes of burnout
Burnout at work can be caused not only by high workload, but also by a lack of meaning in the activities performed, as well as a lack of support from the supervisor. Yulia Gorina, an expert at Roskachestvo and a senior consultant at Beyond Taylor, told Izvestia about this on July 23.
"Actually, if we talk about what I encounter in life, then there are two non-obvious reasons [for burnout]. The first is when there is no sense of activity. That is, we carry out tasks, but we do not understand why we are doing this, what benefits it brings to the world," she said.
According to the expert, due to the shortage in the labor market, companies are currently keeping employees in "hothouse" conditions so that they do not quit. However, performing tasks that are too simple and do not involve rich human skills only demotivates employees.
"The second reason is the lack of a safe environment and executive support. Here, perhaps, we can rely on the principles of humanity. It is only in a trusting environment that people are ready to set ambitious goals," Gorina said.
The specialist added that such problems are more common in those workplaces where there is a lot of bureaucracy and an outdated management system.
Earlier, on July 15, Evgenia Gankina, director of the Roskachestvo Organizational Development Department, said that a full-fledged return to work after burnout should be approached gradually. According to the expert, after feeling an improvement, a person often strives to get into business at full capacity as soon as possible, but this approach only triggers a new round of exhaustion. The expert advised that at first try to negotiate a flexible working day or redistribute tasks between colleagues.
