US President Donald Trump's Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, plans to hold a trilateral meeting with representatives of Qatar and Israel on the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip on Thursday, July 24. This was reported on July 23 by the Axios portal, citing sources.

Witkoff plans to meet with senior Qatari and Israeli officials in Rome on Thursday to continue negotiations on a cease—fire in the Gaza Strip and an agreement on the release of hostages.

It is noted that the meeting will take place in parallel with indirect talks between representatives of Israel and the radical Palestinian movement Hamas in Doha.

On July 22, the head of the press service of the US State Department, Tammy Bruce, announced that Witkoff had been sent to the Gaza Strip.

On the same day, a diplomatic source in Israel told Izvestia that the Israeli authorities were discussing the possibility of transferring control of Gaza to local structures not affiliated with Hamas.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
