Russian swimmers won silver medals in the men's 4 200 m freestyle relay at the Universiade in Germany. This was announced on July 22 by the Olympic Games press service on the official website.

Nikolay Kolesnikov, Alexander Shchegolev, Dmitry Zhavoronkov and Alexander Stepanov covered the distance in 7 minutes 8.33 seconds, losing only to athletes from the U.S. national team, who swam the distance in 7 minutes 4.51 seconds.

The third place was taken by athletes from Japan.

Earlier in the day, Russian synchronized swimmers took second place at the World Aquatics Championships in group exercises. For the first time in 27 years, athletes failed to win gold in this discipline.

The day before, Russian synchronized swimmers Maya Doroshko and Tatiana Gaidai took third place in the technical duet program at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore.

On July 21, Russian synchronized swimmer Alexander Maltsev won his second gold medal at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore. He won the free skate with a score of 229.5613 points.
