Orban pointed to Zelensky's inability to intimidate Hungary
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will not be able to intimidate Budapest with his threats. This was announced on July 22 by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
"We take this seriously, but we are not afraid of Vladimir Zelensky," the politician said, as quoted by Hungarian Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Relations Zoltan Kovacs on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
In addition, Orban warned about Kiev's influence on Hungary's internal politics and urged them to "stand their ground." The politician stressed that as long as he protects the interests of Hungary, Ukraine's membership in the European Union (EU) is excluded.
In June, Orban said that the president of Ukraine should not behave disrespectfully with Hungary. He stressed that the Ukrainian authorities have no right to demand approval from Hungary to join the EU.
