Artist Nikas Safronov will create a monument to the People's Artist of the RSFSR Viktor Safronov, who died the day before in Ulyanovsk.

"I will definitely visit Viktor Alekseevich's grave, and also try to participate in a competition to create a monument in his honor," Safronov said in an interview with aif.ru On Tuesday, July 22nd.

Being from Ulyanovsk, he was familiar with the painter and, while still a student at the art school, took lessons from the master and consulted with him.

"I remember Viktor Safronov as a real hard worker. I see him with an easel, at work, and I think a monument should be like that," Safronov expressed confidence.

He recalled that earlier, at his expense, a monument to the painter Arkady Plastov was erected in Ulyanovsk.

On July 21, it became known that Viktor Safronov, People's Artist of the RSFSR, died at the age of 94. The cause of death is not given, as the website clarifies. kp.ru .
