Tourists detained in Crimea for desecrating the Obelisk of Glory
Three young tourists were detained for desecrating the Obelisk of Glory in the village of Ordzhonikidze in Crimea. This was announced on July 22 by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic on the agency's website.
It is specified that the young men met on the embankment of the city of Feodosia. Near the Obelisk of Glory, two young men suggested that the 17-year-old defendant climb to the top of the memorial to make a video and post it on social networks to increase the number of subscribers.
Police officers detained the intruders. They turned out to be 18- and 19-year-old residents of Moscow and a 17-year-old boy from Podolsk, who came on vacation to Crimea. According to the press service of the department, the violators confessed.
"The materials collected by the police officers have been transferred to the investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee for making a procedural decision," the statement said.
On June 30, a court sentenced two men to two years and six months in a penal colony for desecrating a monument in the village of Kurskaya, Stavropol Territory. It was clarified that the attackers did not admit guilt in the crime.
