A resident of Kansk was sentenced to probation for trafficking unmarked cigarettes
A resident of Kansk, Krasnoyarsk Territory, was sentenced to one and a half years of probation for trafficking unmarked cigarettes. This was announced on July 22 by the press service of the Russian Interior Ministry in the Telegram channel.
"Before the New Year holidays, the defendant purchased cigarettes from various foreign companies that were not marked with excise stamps and stored them in a rented garage for further sale at local retail outlets," the department said.
It is noted that the 54-year-old attacker was detained in December 2024. During the searches, about 12.5 thousand packs of unmarked cigarettes with a total value of 2.3 million rubles were found in his garage. 175 thousand rubles were also found on the spot, which the defendant managed to get from the sale of tobacco products.
According to Part 6 of Article 171.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Acquisition, storage and sale of goods without labeling"), the man was sentenced to one year and six months of probation with a probation period of two years. The funds seized from him and the Lexus RX 300 car were also turned into state revenue.
Earlier, on June 27, Russia proposed to liquidate the illegal cigarette business. So, if 692 warnings were issued in 2022, then in 2024 there were already more than 4.1 thousand of them. There has also been an increase in cases where entrepreneurs in the tobacco retail trade use illegal practices in the field of cash register equipment.
