Meteorologist warned of heavy rains with thunderstorms in the south of Russia

Heavy rains with thunderstorms will hit the Krasnodar Territory, Kalmykia, Astrakhan Region and the North Caucasus in the coming days, Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, told Izvestia.

It is expected that it will take place in other regions of Central Russia.

"Ingushetia, Chechnya, Stavropol Territory, Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay-Cherkessia will see heavy rains combined with thunderstorms," the meteorologist noted.

According to him, a similar situation will be observed in the Astrakhan region and Kalmykia, although such heavy precipitation is unusual for these regions. And in the Krasnodar Territory, Vilfand noted, in addition to heavy rain, hail may fall.

"Heavy precipitation will lead to the fact that in the Krasnodar Territory and in almost all republics of the North Caucasus, the water level in mountain rivers will rise to unfavorable levels. In the next few days, residents of these regions should not leave cars near rivers, because it is dangerous," the expert said.
