The State Duma proposed to include compensation for flooded cars in the CTP
The State Duma proposed to introduce compensation for cars flooded due to heavy rains and affected by other extreme weather events, expanding the coverage of CTP policies. With such an initiative, deputies from the Duma's New People faction appealed to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, RIA Novosti reported on July 21.
It is noted that the CTP policy does not cover losses caused by weather conditions, and all costs of repairing and restoring cars fall on the shoulders of the owners.
The deputies drew attention to the fact that car owners incur financial costs, but do not receive basic protection from force majeure. This is especially unfairly perceived by those citizens who cannot afford a hard hat policy, the authors of the initiative point out.
On July 21, dozens of cars partially or completely went under water in Moscow as a result of heavy rain.
Over the past night and in the morning, monthly precipitation fell in the capital. The Moscow Department of Transport reported that heavy rains and winds of up to 15 m/s will continue in the city until the end of the day.
