Valery Gergiev's concert was canceled in Italy
The management of the Royal Palace of Caserta in Italy has canceled a symphony concert by Russian conductor and Director General of the Bolshoi Theater Valery Gergiev. This was reported by the Italian news agency ANSA on July 22-12.
The concert was scheduled for July 27 as part of the Un'estate da Re festival.
The authors of the material clarified that the Russian conductor is criticized for his public support of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The concert with Gergiev's participation caused outrage among opposition circles and fears of possible protests that could be organized with the participation of the Ukrainian side on July 27.
On July 20, it was reported that a rally was held in Italy against Gergiev's concert. The protests were attended mainly by representatives of the Ukrainian and Georgian diasporas, wrapped in the flags of their states. It is known that individuals listed in Russia as extremists and terrorists are behind the protest organization.
