The share of refusals for car loan applications decreased to 82%
By the end of June, the share of refusals for car loan applications decreased by 2.6 percentage points (percentage points) compared to May and amounted to 82.2%. This was announced on July 21 by the National Bureau of Credit Histories (NBKI). The bounce rate decreased by 3.3 percentage points compared to the first month of summer.
The largest share of car loan refusals in June was recorded in the Krasnoyarsk Territory (86%), Kemerovo (84.4%), Novosibirsk (83.9%) and Moscow (83.5%) regions. The smallest are in the Republic of Tatarstan (76.3%), Nizhny Novgorod (77.2%), Voronezh (77.3%) and Samara (78.1%) regions. In Moscow and St. Petersburg, this figure was 81.8% and 78.8%, respectively.
As explained by Alexey Volkov, NBKI's marketing director, the share of refusals for car loan applications began to decline after months of growth due to the fact that banks noticed significant pent-up demand. The reduction of the key rate is also taken into account.
In addition, as previously reported by the NBKI, in May 2025, the average term of car loans for new and used cars was 64.4 months (or 5.37 years), an increase of 1.6% compared to the previous month. The average amount of car loans issued in late spring amounted to 1.27 million rubles, a decrease of 9.6% compared to the same period in 2024.
On July 16, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation reported that by the end of January – June 2025, over 82.4 thousand cars were sold in Russia under demand stimulation programs. The total volume of discounts provided amounted to almost 24.5 billion rubles.
