Belarus reports on negative consequences of anti-Russian sanctions for the EU
The European Union (EU) sanctions against Moscow and Minsk have been very expensive for unification, and attempts to get out of this situation through militarization make no sense. This was announced on July 20 by the State Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and the Russian Federation, Sergei Glazyev.
"Europe has already paid dearly for the anti-Russian sanctions. In fact, the sanctions against Russia and Belarus have hit Europe much harder than they hit us," BelTA quoted him as saying.
In addition, Glazyev said that Europe would not be able to fix the current situation through militarization, because today's economy is based on "human potential." According to him, the industry of the European Union has lost its competitiveness due to the introduction of restrictions.
The Secretary of State clarified that, despite the sanctions, Belarus has retained very good competencies and capacities in various fields, including microelectronics and instrumentation.
On July 18, former member of the European Commission Gunther Verheugen announced that anti-Russian sanctions had turned against the EU. According to him, the sanctions policy has primarily harmed its initiators, especially Germany.
