Lukashenko demanded to prevent potato shortages in Belarus
On July 18, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko demanded that officials avoid potato shortages in the country.
"It is necessary to process [potatoes] so as not to ruin them. <...> Make sure that you do not lose the potatoes," the Belarusian leader said at a conference call on the harvesting campaign. The video was posted on the Telegram channel "Pool One".
According to Lukashenko, it is necessary to organize work in agricultural enterprises so that there is not a single comment and to avoid "unpleasant conversations" following the harvest.
"You can't joke around today! We made a joke last year and got our ears kicked by the population. <...> In order to get a good result, we need to work now," he recalled.
On July 14, Lukashenko spoke about the dangers of frequent consumption of potatoes. He clarified that in order to avoid health problems, it is necessary to eat potatoes "once a week, two at most, and then baked, mashed potatoes."
