Roskachestvo will develop a standard for determining the Russian origin of beer
On July 18, Roskachestvo reported on the preparation by the agency, together with industry experts, of a standard for determining the Russian origin of beer.
According to the press service of the organization, the product will be able to receive the "Beer of Russia" label only with a 95% localization level of raw materials and ingredients.
"The development of GOST is aimed at strengthening the positions of domestic producers of beer and raw materials for it, the formation and popularization of the national beer brand," the organization noted.
It is specified that measures to support domestic brewers were discussed at a strategic meeting in Cheboksary led by the Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut and the head of Chuvashia Oleg Nikolaev. It is assumed that the new GOST will help customers choose real Russian beer made from local raw materials.
Vyacheslav Mamontov, Executive Director of the Association of Beer, Malt and Beverage Producers, said on July 2 that Russian producers had taken leading positions in the world ranking, which, in turn, indicates the high importance of brewing companies in the country. This fact was influenced, among other things, by the nationalization of Baltika (formerly Carlsberg) and OPH Vereinigte Brauereien (formerly Heineken) companies in Russia. For example, the Russian "Baltika" took the 12th place.
