Moscow's Basmanny Court has arrested Sergei Matsotsky, a former member of the board of directors of Alfa-Bank and Vimpelcom, in a criminal case involving bribery. This was announced on July 18 in the press service of the courts of the capital.

Matsotsky is accused of paying a particularly large bribe to an official (under Part 5 of Article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

"The request of the preliminary investigation authorities to choose a preventive measure <...> in the form of detention for a period of 2 months from the moment of his extradition to the territory of the Russian Federation or from the moment of his detention on the territory of the Russian Federation has been granted," the press service said in a Telegram channel.

The details of the case are unknown.

Earlier that day, Stanislav Shultsev, Deputy Chairman of the government of the Novgorod Region, was arrested in Moscow on charges of accepting a particularly large bribe.
