The EU will replace the disconnection from SWIFT with a ban on transactions with Russian banks

The European Union (EU), as part of the 18th package of sanctions against the Russian Federation, will replace the disconnection from the SWIFT system with a complete ban on transactions for Russian banks subject to sanctions restrictions. The Estonian Foreign Ministry announced this on July 18.

"In the financial sector, the previously applied measure of disconnecting Russian banks from SWIFT has been replaced by a complete ban on transactions, and new Russian banks have been added to the sanctions list," the statement said.
