- SCMP has learned about the development of AI technology to create 3D models of bones and organs
Using artificial intelligence (AI), scientists from Hong Kong have created an innovative technology capable of creating 3D models of bones and organs necessary for implantation based on X-rays. This was reported on July 17 by the South China Morning Post (SCMP) agency.
"Researchers from Hong Kong have developed artificial intelligence technology that creates three—dimensional models of bones and organs for implants based on X-rays," the publication says.
It is specified that the technology reduces radiation exposure to patients by 99% in comparison with computed tomography (CT).
The team hopes that their development will be introduced into the city's healthcare system, which, in their opinion, will lead to significant cost savings and shorter waiting times for patients. This is especially important given that CT scans are associated with high levels of radiation and pose a potential threat to children, pregnant women, and the elderly who need regular medical supervision.
On July 10, The Guardian newspaper reported that in the United States, a robot surgeon successfully performed eight operations on the organs of a dead pig without human help. It was noted that such robots work faster and more accurately than humans.
