Olympic bronze medalist in ski cross Grenvold was killed by lightning
The bronze medalist of the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver, freestyle skier Eudun Grenvold died at the age of 50 after being struck by lightning. This was announced on Wednesday, July 16, on the website of the Norwegian Ski Federation.
The incident occurred during a hiking trip of a 49-year-old athlete. After the incident, he was taken to the hospital, where he received medical treatment. On Wednesday night, the athlete passed away.
"He played for the national team from the 1993/94 season to the 2003/04 season. Later, he achieved significant success in ski cross, winning a bronze medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, a bronze medal at the World Championships and, importantly, a victory in the overall ski cross competition in 2007.
The President of the Tove Federation, Mo Durhaug, added that Norwegian skiing has lost an outstanding personality who meant so much to both the ski and freestyle skiing communities.
