- More than 70 houses remain flooded in the Oymyakon district of Yakutia after precipitation
In the territory of the Oymyakon district of Yakutia, 73 residential buildings remain flooded as a result of heavy rainfall. The passage of the summer flood on Wednesday, July 16, was discussed at an operational meeting of the headquarters, the press service of the head and government of the republic reports.
After heavy rainfall in the Oymyakon district, several settlements were flooded. Thus, 27 residential buildings were flooded in the village of Oymyakon, 32 houses in Sordonnokh, and 14 in Kuydusun. An emergency mode is in effect in the area.
An Mi-8 helicopter with rescuers flew to the village of Ust-Nera (the largest settlement in the Oymyakon district) to provide assistance. A similar flight was sent to the village of Honuu in Momsky district, where water is expected to rise by 15-20 cm by the morning of July 17.
At the same time, the government believes that it is already possible to conclude that a steady decline in water levels has begun in the Ust-Nera area. This is indicated by the indicators of the water level, says IA YakutiaMedia..
"The situation has been under control from the very beginning. Of course, heavy precipitation makes itself felt — mountain rivers have shown a sharp rise in water. We continue to work," commented Dmitry Sadovnikov, First Deputy Chairman of the Government of Yakutia.
According to the Republican Ministry of Emergency Situations, on the morning of July 16, sections of the regional highway "Oymyakon" (100 km) and the federal highway "Kolyma" (1032 km), dozens of courtyards in the settlements of Orto-Balagan, Kuydusun, Oymyakon and Ust-Nera were also flooded.
For preventive purposes, 11 people, including six children, were evacuated to Ust-Nera. They refused to take up temporary accommodation and stayed with relatives and friends.
