Gunmen killed 27 people in central Nigeria
At least 27 people have been killed in a militant attack on the Jebu Rahoss community in central Nigeria. This was reported on July 15 by the newspaper La Libre, citing the AFP news agency.
"27 innocent people were shot dead, some even hacked to death with machetes, mostly women. Many of the injured were taken to the hospital," Haggai Gankins, secretary of the local youth organization Berom Youth Moulders, is quoted in the publication.
It is noted that nomadic shepherds are suspected of the attack.
On June 25, Reuters reported that at least 17 soldiers were killed in northern Nigeria as a result of attacks by armed gangs on three military bases. It is reported that heavy weapons were used for the attacks.
