The survey showed the favorite cars of zoomers in Russia
In Russia, zoomers (18-25 years old) prefer used cars when choosing a car, are interested in purchasing eco-friendly vehicles and love convertibles, and most often buy sedans worth 1.5 million rubles. Avito Auto experts told Izvestia about this on July 15.
The survey results show that zoomers prefer used cars slightly more often than new ones. Among the respondents who already own a car, a quarter bought it in used condition, and 15% bought it new. Those who are just planning an acquisition, in 17% of cases, are inclined to the option with mileage and in 15% — to the new one. Most often, representatives of generation Z buy a car to commute to work (67%), another 44% to drive around the city, and 32% to travel.
The majority of respondents (59%) consider buying a car in the price segment of up to 1.5 million rubles, another 26% — from 1.5 million to 3 million rubles. At the same time, the younger generation is willing to spend significantly more on such a purchase than people aged 26-35 years — an average of 1.92 million rubles versus 1.65 million rubles.
Almost half (47%) of respondents under the age of 25 have never taken out or considered a car loan for purchase. Those who used such a financial instrument were five times less (9%). Another 29% of respondents are ready to take out a loan, but only if they can repay it ahead of schedule.
Cars of German (34%) and Japanese (31%) brands are most popular with zoomers. Half as many respondents (15%) prefer Korean cars, 14% — American, 12% — Russian, and 11% — Chinese. One in five admitted that the brand's country of origin is not crucial.
Sedan is the most preferred body type for 42% of respondents, however, as well as for those aged 26 to 35 years. A third of zoomers opted for a station wagon, while 29% opted for crossovers and SUVs. However, young people love convertibles and roadsters much more than millennials.: 11% versus 2%. Zoomers are also more likely to express sympathy for electric cars: 14% of respondents are ready to buy them (twice as many as among the older age group). Another 15% of respondents are not against hybrid cars, but three quarters of both zoomers and millennials choose a clean gasoline engine.
On June 30, it was reported that Russian millennials and Generation X prefer crossovers when buying a car, while zoomers choose budget sedans. Like the boomers, their most popular model is the Lada Granta. However, the latter often take it new, and zoomers are content with cars older than 10 years.
