The bust of Lieutenant General Kirillov, who died in the terrorist attack, was installed in Kostroma.

A commemorative bust of Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, chief of the radiation, chemical and biological Protection Forces of the Russian Armed Forces, who died as a result of the terrorist act on December 17, 2024, was installed in Kostroma. This was announced on July 14 by the Governor of the Kostroma region Sergey Sitnikov.

"A commemorative bust of Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, who died in a terrorist attack last December, has been installed in Kostroma," Sitnikov wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to the governor, the bust was installed in honor of Kirillov's 55th birthday.

"I am grateful to everyone who preserves the memory of Igor Anatolyevich. As long as we are alive, as long as we remember, we will be together with our friend," Sitnikov added.

The opening ceremony of the monument was also attended by Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the Kurchatov Institute National Research Center, who noted Kirillov's great responsibility and sense of compassion.

"He was a deep patriot of the country, and that was the main thing that guided him through life. He was an inquisitive researcher and scientist, he had a reverent and very deep attitude to science," Kovalchuk added.

Kirillov and his assistant died on the morning of December 17, 2024, as a result of detonating an explosive device planted in a scooter at the entrance of an apartment building in Moscow.

On January 16, a Moscow court detained three defendants in the criminal case of Kirillov's murder — Batukhan Tochiev, Akhmadjon Kurbonov (listed as terrorists and extremists in the Russian Federation) and Padiev. Their arrest was later extended until May 17. According to law enforcement agencies, the detainees, on the instructions of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), provided housing and personal transport for the perpetrators of the terrorist attack against Kirillov.
