Germany called the resumption of American arms supplies to Ukraine a step back
The possible resumption of arms supplies to Ukraine by American leader Donald Trump will not be a step forward, but a return to the policy of former US President Joe Biden. This was stated by national security expert Nico Lange in an interview with the German newspaper Bild on July 14.
"US President Donald Trump finally wants to supply weapons to Ukraine... However, Trump is not making a big step forward, <...> but rather a step back to the Biden administration's policy towards Ukraine," the article says.
According to Lange, Trump wants to ensure that arms supplies to Ukraine are funded by European states, and not "at the expense of American taxpayers."
On July 11, Politico reported that Trump was considering sending Ukraine a new military aid package worth hundreds of millions of dollars. The publication noted that if the decision is made, it will be the first military aid to Kiev from the Trump administration.
