Yellow dividing markings first appeared in Moscow
For the first time, yellow dividing markings appeared in Moscow. It was inflicted on Chaginskaya Street in the Southeastern Administrative District. Such markings increase safety in areas with heavy traffic, the Moscow Department of Transport announced in its Telegram channel on July 14.
Previously, accidents were recorded on this site due to violations of overtaking rules. Experts will monitor the traffic situation. If the project proves its effectiveness, yellow dividing markings will appear on other roads in Moscow.
The yellow line for separating traffic flows appeared in the new edition of GOST from this year. It is believed that it is better visible at night and in winter. Yellow is also more contrasting than white, especially in difficult weather conditions, which helps drivers navigate the road better and reduces the risk of head-on collisions.
Earlier, on June 23, it was reported that in the first five months of 2025, the number of people killed in road accidents in Moscow decreased by 26% compared to the same period last year. So, in 2024, 120 people died in January—May, and 89 people died this year.
