Pavel Durov, the founder of the Telegram platform, said that the French authorities are preventing the manifestation of freedom of speech and technological progress in the country. He wrote about this on July 12 on the social network X.

"French bureaucrats are waging a crusade against freedom of speech and technological progress. Using criminal investigations instead of clear rules governing Internet companies will scare away investments and damage the country's economic growth for decades," the report said.

It is worth noting that the post was written in response to the launch of a criminal investigation into the social network X of American billionaire and entrepreneur Elon Musk in France.

Earlier, on June 19, Durov criticized French President Emmanuel Macron and said he was ignoring his messages on Telegram.
