A group of scientists from the Beijing Institute of Technology in China has managed to create the world's first cyborg bee equipped with an ultralight implanted brain controller. This was reported on July 11 by the South China Morning Post (SCMP) newspaper.

"At the Beijing Institute of Technology, Professor Zhao Jeliang's team has created the world's lightest controller for working with the insect brain. With a weight of 74 mg, it is lighter than a bag of nectar," the publication says.

According to the newspaper, the device, which is attached to the insect's back, "pierces" its brain with three needles. Electronic pulses create illusions that command the flight path. It is noted that in nine out of 10 cases, the bee obeyed these commands.

According to the scientists, this insect can be used in military intelligence or to search for people in emergency situations. In addition, this development can have a positive impact on the interactions between biological systems and electronics, as well as be applied in many other fields, including environmental monitoring and agriculture."Газета.Ru ".

Earlier, on May 22, Chinese scientists developed a robot for implanting implants in the brain. Specialists from the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences have developed a flexible robot called CyberSense, which is capable of implanting ultrathin microelectrodes into the brain and represents a technological breakthrough in the field of brain–computer interfaces (BCI).
