Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (GBR) of Ukraine are conducting searches of the former Minister of Infrastructure Alexander Kubrakov in a case related to the possible purchase of fertilizers in Belarus. This was reported on July 11 by the Ukrainska Pravda newspaper.

According to the publication, investigators are conducting searches at Kubrakov's home because of an investigation into possible fraud by an out-of-faction deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, Yevgeny Shevchenko. He is currently in custody on charges of treason.

Investigators believe that Shevchenko could illegally extort UAH 14.5 million ($347,000) from entrepreneurs to purchase fertilizers in Belarus. According to the GBR, Kubrakov may have helped him in carrying out this fraudulent scheme.

Earlier, on July 5, the head of the Anti-Corruption Center of Ukraine, Daria Kalenyuk, reported that the family of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, lives in the American state of Florida near the Atlantic Ocean coast in a large house with a swimming pool. According to her, they also own an art gallery in the United States.
