- Rubio announced negotiations with NATO allies on the transfer of Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine
The United States is negotiating with its NATO allies to transfer additional Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine. This was announced on July 10 by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Malaysia.
According to Rubio, such air defense systems could be provided, for example, by Germany and Spain. He noted that Washington is "actively discussing the issue of Patriot with other countries" and is looking for "creative options" for supplying defensive weapons to Kiev.
"The vast majority of the military assistance that the United States provides to Ukraine has never been suspended and continues on the same schedules as before," Rubio added.
He also stressed that Washington had not made a political decision to stop supplying weapons to Kiev, it was only a question of a temporary review of stocks and the suspension of individual supplies.
Earlier, on July 8, US President Donald Trump announced the transfer of some defensive weapons to Ukraine. He stressed that he had independently approved the supply of weapons to Kiev.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, noted that the West's actions with the supply of weapons to Ukraine do not contribute to a peaceful settlement of the conflict. According to him, the line that the Europeans have chosen is aimed at contributing in every possible way to the continuation of hostilities.
