The media learned about Trump's intention to put pressure on Zelensky by cutting aid
US President Donald Trump intends to force Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky to come to the negotiating table by threatening to cut aid to Kiev. This was reported by Focus magazine on July 10.
"He wants to force Kiev to sit down at the negotiating table and can use arms supplies as a lever of pressure," the article says.
According to the publication, this intention may also serve as a signal to Russian President Vladimir Putin about the American leader's ability to make deals.
According to Focus, Trump has long pursued a strategy of using military aid as a bargaining chip.
Earlier, on July 8, Trump announced the transfer of some defensive weapons to Ukraine. He stressed that he had independently approved the supply of weapons to Kiev.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, noted that the West's actions with the supply of weapons to Ukraine do not contribute to a peaceful settlement of the conflict. According to him, the line that the Europeans have chosen is aimed at contributing in every possible way to the continuation of hostilities.
