FC Orenburg can replace Torpedo in the Russian Premier League

Orenburg football Club may replace Torpedo Moscow club in the Russian Premier League (RPL) this season. This was announced on July 9 by Sport-Express.

"Following the results of the Torpedo case on the bribery of referees, it is highly likely that the Moscow club will be excluded from the list of RPL participants in the 2025/26 season, and Orenburg will take its place," the material says.

On June 20, law enforcement officers detained Leonid Sobolev, the owner of FC Torpedo. On the same day, it was reported that a criminal case had been opened against him, as well as the director of Torpedo, Valery Skorodumov, who, according to preliminary data, tried to bribe the judge. It was noted that the defendants allegedly offered the chief referee over 1 million rubles for winning the match, awarding penalties to opponents or removing their player.

The day before, police officers detained football referee Bogdan Golovko for illegally influencing the results of the Russian (CR) football championship.
