Estonia may be blocked by the 18th package of anti-Russian sanctions of the European Union (EU) due to oil prices from Russia. This was announced on July 9 by Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna in an interview with the ERR television and radio company.

According to him, restrictions can be introduced only after lowering the ceiling on oil prices to $45 per barrel.

"We are very clear in our opinion that lowering the ceiling on oil prices should be included in this package. We have a very firm position on this issue," the Estonian Foreign Minister believes.

At the same time, according to Tsakhna, lowering the ceiling on energy prices from Russia should be the "strongest element" of the new package of sanctions.

On June 23, Hungary and Slovakia blocked a new package of EU sanctions against Russia due to EU plans to stop gas and oil imports from Russia.
