In August 2025, pension payments for a number of Russian pensioners will be reviewed. This is due to the fact that in July, some of them had events that gave them the right to recalculate. State Duma deputy Sergei Gavrilov (KPRF faction) told Izvestia about this on July 9.

"Russian pension legislation stipulates that if the right to an additional payment arises in one month, the increase itself will begin to be reflected in payments from the next," Gavrilov said.

One of the most common reasons for increasing a pension is reaching the age of 80. In this case, the fixed payment to the insurance pension is automatically doubled. In 2025, its base amount is 8,907 rubles and 70 kopecks, and after 80 years it increases to 17,815 rubles and 40 kopecks. In addition, if a pensioner is officially cared for, he can receive an allowance of 1,314 rubles.

Another reason for recalculation may be the establishment of the first disability group. If the relevant medical report is issued in July, then from August the pensioner will begin to receive a double fixed payment, regardless of age. If there are dependents, the amount may be even higher — for each disabled family member, an additional payment of 2,969 rubles 23 kopecks is due (maximum — for three).

Also in August, those who quit their jobs in July will receive a raise. After termination of employment, the pensioner's payments are recalculated, taking into account all missed indexations. The recalculation is carried out from the next month after the dismissal, however, due to the timing of data processing, the money may be credited to the account with a delay of one to two months.

"August does not imply a general increase in pensions for everyone, but for certain categories of citizens it may become a month of significant increase in payments. The Pension Fund system automatically recalculates the amounts if the relevant data is entered into the database. Pensioners do not need to submit additional applications — the increase is calculated without their participation," the deputy said.

Earlier, on June 20, Chairman of the Social Fund of Russia Sergey Chirkov announced an increase in pensions for working pensioners. According to him, after leaving work, the payments will be equal to those provided for non-working pensioners.
