Most of the victims of intestinal infection in Dagestan are children. On July 8, the deputy chief physician of the Magaramkent Central District Hospital, Alzira Shirinova, informed the Izvestia correspondent.

According to her, 156 patients applied to the medical institution for medical help. Of these, 154 are minors, 30 are hospitalized.

"The children have been coming in since yesterday. All children have the same symptoms. These are high fever, nausea, vomiting. Some children have diarrhea," the doctor said.

Shirinova also noted that the hospital is provided with the necessary medicines and medical staff, and the victims are being treated.

"Since many patients come in with a high fever, these are antipyretic therapy, infusion therapy, detoxification therapy, they all receive it," she concluded.

Earlier that day, the Ministry of Health of Dagestan reported that it had been taken to the Central District Hospital of the Magaramkent district with symptoms of intestinal infection. The Minister of Health of Dagestan Yaroslav Glazov instructed to send a team of infectious diseases specialists, epidemiologists and specialists of the Ministry to the Magaramkentsky district.

Later it was reported that a criminal case had been opened into the mass poisoning of residents of the Magaramkent district. It was established that the victims drank water that was supplied to the houses through water supply lines.
