Kazakhstan promised to respond to Trump's duties
The Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan will respond to US President Donald Trump's 25% tariffs. This was announced on July 8 by the press service of the department.
"In connection with the introduction of the US 25% duty on goods from Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan is preparing an official response," RIA Novosti quoted the ministry as saying.
The day before, Trump sent a letter to Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev outlining US plans to impose duties of 25% on all goods from the republic from August 1.
On the same day, Trump announced that from August 1, the United States would impose duties of 25% on all goods of Korean and Japanese origin imported into the country. According to him, the United States is ready to continue trade with Korea and Japan, but intends to achieve a more balanced relationship. He clarified that the new tariffs should compensate for the long-term trade deficit caused by the tariff and other policies of these countries.
