A court in the Krasnodar Territory sentenced 51-year-old Sergei Maklakov to 13 years in a penal colony in a case of treason. This was announced on July 2 by the press service of the regional prosecutor's office.

"The Krasnodar Regional Court has handed down a verdict in a criminal case against 51-year-old Russian citizen Sergei Maklakov. He was found guilty under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("High treason")," follows from the publication in the Telegram channel.

In the spring of 2023, Maklakov established contact with a representative of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). It is specified that the man acted on the instructions of the curators. So, in January 2024, he transported four routers and eight SIM cards to Novorossiysk and left them in a certain garage for use by unidentified persons. In addition, in February 2024, a man collected and transmitted information about the location of submarines to Kiev.

According to the press service of the department, the court sentenced Maklakov to 13 years in a penal colony to be served in a high-security penal colony with restriction of liberty for a period of one year.

Earlier, on June 2, in the Kemerovo region, a court sentenced Andrei Smirnov, a resident of Belovo, to 16 years in prison in a case of treason. It was clarified that a man who shares a pro-Ukrainian position, using malware, carried out computer attacks on the information resources of our country. Due to the actions of the attacker, the websites of some companies were unavailable.
